Description: German military field telphone receiver and case used on the battlefield during World War I. Eiserner Armeefernsprecher or Iron Army Field Telephones were introduced in 1913 and were a more light weight telephone used by men on the front lines. Heavier Feldfernsprecher or "Field telephones" were in use by signalers in the 2nd and 3rd line positions.Telephone receiver would have been plugged into wooden telephone box with crank, which is missing.
