Description: Watercolor painting of Henry Dodge by George Catlin, completed during the Dodge-Leavenworth Expedition of 1834. Dodge had a long military and political career on the frontier. He first served in the War of 1812 then later in the Winnebago War and Black Hawk War. He was the first U.S. Marshal of the Missouri Territory and became the first governor of the Wisconsin Territory.
