Description: Watercolor painting by St. Louis artist and illustrator, Mat Hastings, showing St. Louis volunteer Mound Fire Co. No. 9 responding to a fire at the Pavilion in downtown St. Louis in the mid 19th century. The "Mound Pavilion" was built on top of Big Mound in downtown St. Louis in 1844 but was short-lived, burning in 1848.
