Title: Bound Collection of Colored Ledger Drawings, "Picture Stories of the Kiowa Indians"

Description: Bound collection of 22 colored ledger drawings by an unidentified Kiowa artist depicting battle scenes between various bands of Indians, and between Indians and U.S. soldiers. The Kiowa Chief Heidsieck, or Gaapiatan, is featured in two of the drawings. The drawings were commissioned by W. H. Quinette at Fort Sill about 1885, given to Capt. Frank Rice of the U.S. Army, and then presumably collected by William K. Bixby.
