Title: "I Always Did 'Spise a Mule" (Boy Seated on Bench) Mechanical Coin Bank

Description: Cast iron mechanical bank showing a mule facing an African American boy seated on a bench. To operate the bank, a coin is placed under the child's seat Pressing the lever causes the mule to turn around and kick over the child, whose motion opens a path for the coin to fall into the bank. Manufactured by the J and E Stevens Company circa 1897.
