Title: Gold Medal from the French Society of St. Louis, Presented to Charles Lindbergh

Description: This gold medal,struck by the Administration de Monnaies et Medailles, also known as the French Mint, is an official medal commemorating Charles Lindbergh's New York to Paris flight Because the design was approved only days before Lindbergh left to go back to the US, it was sent to St. Louis and presented to Lindbergh by Major William B. Robertson of Robertson Air Corps, St. Louis on behalf of the French Society of St. Louis, June, 1927. Lindbergh flew air mail for Robertson's company.The gold medal; obverse has relief bust of Lindbergh; reverse has map of U.S. East Coast, the Atlantic Ocean, and Europe with the course of the New York to Paris flight marked. Came in a red leather case trimmed in gold.
