Given by American Scenic and Historic Preservation Society of New York and New York Mayor's Reception Committee. Presented June, 1927 during Welcome Home ceremonies. This was said during the presentation, "Presented as a memorial of Col. Lindbergh's unparalled continuous and unaccompanied flight from new York to Paris, as a tribute to his enterprise, courage and skill as a navigator of the air, and as an evidence of the City's and Society's affectionate appreciation of his exemplary character as a young American."
