Title: Schmidt Radio-Harp Chord Zither

Description: The "Radio-Harp" is a 4/15 (4 chord, 15 string) chord-zither manufactured by Oscar Schmidt in the early 20th century. The sound-hole label reads "Otto Schmidt", one of many names Mr. Schmidt used for his factories. The fretless zither features a scroll and pillar design. The term "radio-harp" was a marketing strategy that attempted to give the zither a modern connotation. Radios were becoming popular sources of musical entertainment and leisure and were seen as competition to the zither industry.
