Thomas Hogan served as sergeant in Company F, 5th Missouri Infantry (Confederate). He was killed November 30, 1864, in the Battle of Franklin, Tenn.

Contains five letters of Thomas Hogan to his father and Ellen, dated Dry Bayou, New Madrid County, Mo.; Iuka, Vicksburg, and Enterprise, Miss.; and Tuscaloosa, Ala. Includes accounts of the regiment's participation in the Battle of Corinth and battles in the Vicksburg campaign. Mentions numerous regimental casualties.
