At the Office, there he told them he’d give $20 each, for the series, whereat they were well content. / Alf Waud draweth there. After making some six or eight designs he took them to the Lantern Office, leaving them. Next day called, — they were not wanted. [Frank] Bellew was in the place. Through the medium of Lockington Alf has sold them some two or three drawings, by the help of which he gets along, working out at Swinton and Fays, and noctur-
