The turn out was as fine a one as New York ever witnessed, only the authorities bungled the matter by having two military reviews, one on the Battery, one in the Park, which delayed the Prince’s progress so that half of the city didn’t see him, darkness preventing him. Broadway was never more crowded, not during the [Lajos] Kossuth or Japanese celebrations.
