Title: Thomas Butler Gunn Diaries: Volume 5, page 27, August 31-September 1, 1852

Description: Mentions that John Brougham is in Washington negotiating with the Democratic Party to have the Lantern report favorably on them before the upcoming election.

31. Tuesday. Work on minor Reveille subjects & rebusses. Out by 12 1/2, to [Cornelius] Mathews, to Lantern Office, ([Thomas] Powell having left) and learnt that [William] Barth had just left there. To Post Office, Dickensons, leaving block with Randall, thence to Lockington leaving rebusses. To Levy’s, purchased blocks, there & at Mc A Fee’s. Reveille Office. Returned by 1 1/2, dined at Reade Street. Work on by Reveille cut; supped down town, drawing again till Joe [Greatbatch] came. Out with him about 10 1/2, took him to Bowery, had Ice creams, saw him to [174] Mulbery Street, then walked back to my room, down Broadway. Barth had called at my room leaving note. Not going to Fort Mackinaw for a month or so.
