Title: Thomas Butler Gunn Diaries: Volume 11, page 145 [newspaper clipping], ca. 1859

Description: Newspaper clipping commenting briefly on alcohol and youth.

Transcription:

The habit of appealing to brute force, in other words the murderous principle, is a most alarming feature in the present day. Even the reporters for Temperance journals travel on their muscle, and “bob around” when under the influence of a “rooster extremity,” seeking whom they may devour. It is a painful exhibition to see a clever young man thus led away by debauched acquaintances and a sixpenny tod. Let us weep!
