Saint Louis Feby 26 / 64

W Brinton Boggs

U.S.A.

Sir,

I submit to you the following proposition for Ice required for the use of the U.S. Navy.

I will furnish Five hundred tons, or upwards at Cairo, at Twelve ($12) dollars per ton.

I will furnish Five hundred tons, or upwards at Memphis at Sixteen ($16) dollars per ton.

One thousand Tons, or upwards, at Helena, ark. at Twenty ($20) dollars, per ton.

One thousand Tons or upwards, at Vicksburg, at Twenty two ($22) dollars per ton.

The Ice to be best quality of Northern Ice, and I will furnish Ice Houses at my own expense, put it in Store, Secure it, and deliver it in Houses to you, and give you the use of the Ice Houses free of rent — and when we are delivering the Ice if you can take any afloat I will make a liberal deduction from these prices. —

You are to let us know at an early day as you can the amounts required and places.

It is optional with you to increase the amounts to all you require, or if you do not require the full amount, here Stated we can probably arrange that Satisfactorily, although it will be inconvenient to furnish Ice-House room for less than 500 tons. —

I should like very much to furnish you this Ice as from past business with yourself and your Department, we have always had prompt Settlements and no unpleasant relations.

Yours truly
