Dear Father I sit down to write you a few lines to let you know that I am well at presant and that I got a letter from you yesterday dated Feb 7th I was glad to here from you Father I have not mutch to write to day there is deserters coming in every day from Jackson they say that the rebs are runing away every day there is but few gurrilers this sid of Jackson we have got a nice camping ground and a gard place to drill we have Brigade drill twice a week the wether has ben very hot with the exception of the last two day it was very disagreeable yesterday it snowed in the morning the ground froze some last night its tolerable plesant to day Father you must excuse my letter this time so good by Father your son
