dear Father I sit down to write you afew line to let you know that I am well at present and I hope that you are same we are know at Rolla this is the miserablest Country that you ever saw there is neither people nor provisions out here there has bin people out here be fore this rebelion browk out we have a hard time out here there is a great deal of sicnes[sickness] in the camp there are men dying everyday the disease is the diarhear[diarrhea] and flu there are about 8 thousand men at and around this place the for is anice place there are 4 pieces of artillery in the post they are 32 pounders I want you write as soon as you get my letter I want to know what your are all adoing I want to know how Nathan and Pierce is geting along with the corn and what you have don with my Mule I want you to write and let me know whether you have got all of my money or not I sent $20 and my picture up to Louisiana by Marian Ray and I sent $10 in a letter I want you to tel sinia to write and let me know how her and Lissy is and if she can walk or not I want to know wheather Frazer[?] is working any this fall or not I want to whether you have had any feast or not and how the sugar cain is don so no more at present
