Dear Fat[h]er


i now take my pen in hand to inform you that we are all well at the present time and hope that when these few lines comes to hand they may find you enjoying the Same health we got your letter of the 22nd of Jan which gave us great Satisfaction to hear from you i have not burnt any plant beds yet though i will as Soon as the ground gets Dry enough.

I wrote two letters to you and Sent them by hand by JF Short[Juan F. Short] and for fear you do not get them i will write a little more i want you to write to me often and let me know how you are getting along i want you to write whether you want that hay Stack you Spoke for of Mrs Cobb[Matilda L. Cobb] Mrs Cobb wants you as you come back by st louis to get her half Bushel of Clover Seed and if you want to Sow your wheat field you had better get Some for your Self and get Some grass Seed Ma Says that she wants you to get one ounce of quinine and Some Dovers powder and Some calomel and half Doz bottles i think of paragorick i am not certain you can go by the letter that Short gives to you he Said if he did not get to the Regt he would Send them by mail i have not nothin of much importance to write to you tell all the boys I would like to See them very well give my Best Respects to all inquiring friends and Receive the Same your Self, So no more at present But I Remain your affectionate Son untill Death
