Title: Order of Brig. Gen. J.L. Donaldson, Chief Quartermaster's Office, Department of the Cumberland, Nashville, Tenn., February 9, 1865

Description: Regarding actions to take following a rise in robberies of subsistence stores from trains.

Transcription: Feby 9th 1865

Sir.

The robberies of Subsistence Stores on trains between Nashville and points South have grown into an enormous evil, and to abate it as much as possible, you are directed to place armed men in charge of the trains arriving at your Post with orders to prevent robberies of all kinds, and you will call on the Commanding Officer of your Post at the same time to furnish sentinels for the protection of property in trains either for your Post or in transit for other points — I enclose copies of orders relating to such outrages.
