Dear Sir

I sit down with pleasure to inform that I am slowly on the mend I am sitting up for a little this afternoon for the first time I am not as weak as I thought I should be when I come to walk. I understood our Regt was under Marching orders. if you can get time to write let us know weather it is so or not. a few days ago Golden appeared quite a good deal better but his Nurse tells me to day if he dont take a change for the better soon he thinks his recovery doubtful he does every thing for him man could do as regards takeing care of him he will be lost for want of care as some do. it is believed I guess his Nurse will write to you again in a few days.

I am sorry to inform you of the death of Criss[Christopher Pew] poor fellow he as suffered a heap in the last few years he died I think Atkins said after half past 3 Oclock P.M. the day as you left in the morning you I have written to father since Criss[Christopher Pew] died?

I shall be pleased to hear from you if it is convenient, as soon as possible my respects to the boys & yourself and allow me to remain as ever your Obediently
