Dear brother

I take [words missing] d to Drop you a few lines to [words missing] that we are all in tolerable good health at this time and hope these few lines will find you enjoying the Same I read your letter of January this morning and was verry glad to hear from you a few days Since I understood that you was shot all to pieces but no one could tell how the news come you wrote that you had aliked to a wrote to me how to manage that is what I need Some good advise I thought that I would wait until I saw you but my racks family comeing out and I let him have the old haris place and about 12 acres o[f] [words missing] gives me half of I feed the [words missing] not hired no hand got the ta [words missing] well be verry high I think th [words missing] about 15 dollars per month I [words missing] to tell me what to do the da [words missing] ing to themselves and I hope t [words missing] peace if you bug you any clo [words missing] me home I want you to bring me a half bushel if you please I would say write to me Soon but hope you will Soon be at home and that will be better than all the lottery so no more at present but remain your mos [words missing] Death
