Smith was a delegate from Worth County (12th senatorial district) to the Missouri State Convention held at the Mercantile Library in St. Louis from January 6 to 11, 1865. Thilenius was a delegate from Cape Girardeau (26th senatorial district) to the Missouri State Convention held at the Mercantile Library in St. Louis from January 6 to 11, 1865.
