Harris was a delegate from Callaway County (3rd senatorial district) to the Missouri State Convention held at the Mercantile Library in St. Louis from January 6 to 11, 1865. Hughes was a delegate from Pettis County (16th senatorial district) to the Missouri State Convention held at the Mercantile Library in St. Louis from January 6 to 11, 1865.
