"Born in Milhan, France August 16th 1809, Died in Saint Louis, Missouri December 22nd 1874, Graduate of the University of Pennsylvania March 28th 1823, Member of the Academy of Science of Philadelphia July 26th 1833, Commissioned Assistant Surgeon of the US Army July 4th 1836, Commissioned Surgeon with rank of Major July 4th 1853, Commissioned Brevet Lieutenant Colonel and Colonel, March 13th 1865 for faithful and meritorious service during the war, At death Abadie left a widow and three children, Eugene S, William B, and Emile R, The photograph made from copy, Original taken at West Point in 1864."
