Description: Full-length portrait of a man in uniform with a sword. "1st Lieut. Max. v. Unruh Com. 'E,' 5th Mo. Cav. Vols. 1862." (written below image on album page). The name on the album page is misspelled. Hewitt (1998) has Max Von Unruh listed as serving in companies G and E of the 5th Missouri Volunteer Cavalry as a 1st Lt. and as Captain in companies E, H, and M in the 4th Missouri Volunteer Cavalry. The 4th and 5th Missouri Volunteer Cavalry Regiments consolidated on Nov. 1, 1862 (The Union Army, vol. IV).
