Title: Rivoli Theater, Sixth Street south of Olive Street. Night view.

Description: The Rivoli Theater at Sixth Street south of Olive Street, lit up at night. The theater is playing "The Mad Whirl" starring May Mc Avoy. Built in 1896 as Caesar?s Cafe, what became known as the Rivoli Theater was designed by Charles Ramsey, an associate of Louis Sullivan. The building needed to be heavily altered to make the transition from cafe to theater, the sgraffito panels on the facade, being just one of the alterations. The building was designated as a St. Louis City Landmark, but was demolished in 1983.
