Description: View of residences and churches at the northeast corner of the intersection of Garrison Avenue and Washington Avenue. A drug store is visible at 2950 Washington. Midtown was the city's medical center in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Hospitals, pharmacies, dentists, and medical supply companies clustered in the streets north of Olive and west of Jefferson. New locations for St. Louis Baptist Hospital and Barnes Hospital were opened on Garrison Avenue during the 1890s.
