Title: Lindell Boulevard Looking West From Kingshighway Boulevard.

Description: Private residences lining Lindell Boulevard looking west from Kingshighway Boulevard. Wealthy St. Louisans began building large homes on Lindell west of Kingshighway and in the private places that cropped up in the Central West End, such as Portland Place and Westminster Place. Homeowners hoped the area's proximity to Forest Park would protect their property values and prevent the expansion of industrial and commercial interests that had overtaken earlier wealthy enclaves such as Lucas Place and Vandeventer Place.
