Title: View of Broadway looking south across St. Charles Street, April 1960.

Description: View of Broadway looking south across St. Charles Street, April 1960. The city's financial district was concentrated along Fourth Street and extended west to Sixth Street. The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is pictured at left, in the foreground. The Boatmen's Bank Building is pictured in the distant left. Boatmen's Bank moved into this building in after a fire destroyed its headquarters at Fourth and Washington. The building was later named the Marquette Building and was purchased by the city's Parking Division in 1997 using revenue generated by parking meters, parking tickets, and municipal garages. It was redeveloped into condominiums, apartments, commercial and retail space, and a YMCA.
