Title: Hop Alley looking north on Eighth Street between Walnut and Market Streets.

Description: Hop Alley, looking north on Eighth Street between Walnut and Market Streets. Hop Alley was St. Louis' Chinatown. The area developed a colorful and exotic reputation, perhaps because of its proximity to two stretches of seddy bars that ran along Market Street: "Skid Row," which was on Market between Eighth and Ninth, and "Prizefighters' Row," on Market between Sixth and Seventh Streets. The district was demolished in the 1960s and rebuilt as a parking structure for the new Busch Stadium that opened in 1966.
