In the bottom-left corner "Painted by W. J. Brickey" is inscribed. The center of the daguerreotype's lower edge is inscribed with the words "Recorder's Court, St. Louis, Mo.", and in the lower-right corner "T.M. Easterly, Daguerrean" is engraved.
