Description: Union Boulevard entrance to Washington Terrace, a private residential neighborhood. The Washington Terrace entrance gates on Union Boulevard were built in 1892 by Harvey Ellis, who is also attributed for St. Louis City Hall. The private places of St. Louis were the preeminent residential address in the city around the turn of the century. The gates of Washington Terrace are said to emulate the city gates of Lubeck, Germany.
