Title: Mary Huber Collection

Description: Henry Hooss arrived in Perryville, Missouri around 1842 and opened its first hotel, the White Tavern, also known as the White Inn or the White House, which stood across from the Perry County courthouse until it was torn down in the 1920s. Mary Louise Huber, daughter of Barbara Hooss Huber, was a granddaughter of Henry Hooss and grew up in the White Tavern in Perryville. The Mary Huber Collection contains seven small mounted photographs. Six show Mary Huber, her cousins, and friends, sometimes dressed in men's clothing, and one shows the White Tavern.
