Title: F. R. Rice Mercantile Cigar Company Collection

Description: Rice and Byers Cigars was founded in the 1870s and incorporated in 1880 as the F.R. Rice Mercantile Cigar Company. It both produced and imported millions of cigars annually. Owned by Captain Frank R. Rice (1843-1917), a Civil War veteran, and William Schultz, vice president, the company operated its business at two locations, 305 North 4th Street and 3660 Lindell Boulevard. The F. R. Rice Mercantile Cigar Company Collection consists of twelve copy photos showing the interior of the company and its employees at work. Pictured are the accounting office, workers rolling cigars, and the store.
