Title: Vera Hicks Collection

Description: Vera Hicks and her mother opened Hicks and Hicks custom clothing store in Clayton in 1938. During the 1940s and 50s Vera Hicks designed the dresses for the Veiled Prophet queen and maids. In 1948 Scruggs bought out the store, and Hicks ran the custom clothing division of the Scruggs, Vandervoort, and Barney department store. She left the store in 1954 to open another store, the Vera Hicks Shop, in the Park Plaza Hotel. She closed her store in the 1960s. The Vera Hicks Collection about 20 unidentified photographs of models in dresses and portraits, and 5 copies of a print advertisement for Hicks and Hicks, Stylists of Distinctive Creations in Clayton, Missouri.
