W.A. Carter was a judge and post agent at Fort Bridger, Utah Territory (Wyoming).

Letters from Fort Bridger to St. Louis about troop movements, emigration, farming, and postal service (including Pony Express). Letters addressed to Major F.E. Hunt, Russell, Majors and Waddell, O.D. Filley, Chauncey I. Filley, Robert Campbell and Co., etc. Includes introduction and index by E.A. Brininstool, and photographs by Merrill Brininstool, 1924.
