Title: Lilburn W. Boggs Papers, 1827-1859


Lilburn W. Boggs was born in Kentucky in 1798. He came to Missouri and worked as a cashier at the Bank of St. Louis prior to 1819. He became prominent in politics and was elected governor of Missouri in 1836 and held the office for one term.

Papers consist of correspondence dealing with the Indian troubles in Barry County, Missouri, and other matters of the state. Also contains biographical data on the Boggs family and letters of James O. Boggs and other members of the family.
